José Luis de la Fuente "Chiqui" (1930 - 1992; Santander, Spain)
José Luis de la Fuente, known under the name of Chiqui, was born in Santander in 1930 and is the younger brother of Victor de la Fuente. His style is recognizable for its resemblance to the typical "Belgian school".
He began his career with the Argentine magazine Cocodrilo and his earliest work appeared in Balalín ('Titín') and Dolár ('El Ranger Solitaro').
After having lived in Argentina for a while, Chiqui returned to Spain in 1958, where he worked for Spanish editor Dolar in 1958 - 1960, creating all covers for the series El Hombre Enmascarado ("The Phantom") and Flash Gordon.
He contributed all the covers to the 1966 series Héroes Modernos and Mandrake.
He later drew his own comic strips like Treasure Island, Oliver, Marcy and the pirates, The Baron of Münchhausen amongst many successful Spanish comics, mainly in humorous style.
He died in Madrid in 1992.
