This is the unique original Gouache painting by Gordon Hutchings.

So that's how abstract art got started. An accident with a hand painted birthday card leads to new artistic expression in this charming Num Num story.

These stories appeared in the short-lived children's pre-school title TV Toyland which was published between 1966-67 before being merged with the more well known Playhour.

This page is still on it's original artboard from when the page was published in the recently merged Playhour-Robin comic 19th April 1969.

  Gordon Hutchings
  Gordon Hutchings took over the long-running Gulliver Guinea-Pig strip from Philip Mendoza around 1961 and his crisp charming work appeared in Playhour and later the Teddy Bear Annual.
