This artwork features the badge of the R.A.F. Bomber Squadron 115.
The motto of RAF Bomber Squadron 115 is "Despite the elements". This motto reflects the squadron's ability to operate effectively under challenging and adverse conditions.
RAF 115 Squadron was a historic bomber and instructor training unit with a complex history, forming in WWI and seeing significant action in WWII with bombers like the Wellington and Lancaster. Known for its role in minelaying and heavy strategic bombing, including the first RAF mainland raid into Norway, it suffered the highest losses in Bomber Command. After post-war service, the squadron was disbanded and later reformed at RAF Wittering to train flying instructors for all three UK armed forces using the Tutor T1.
