John Beaven (Active circa 1930-1970; UK)
John Beaven was a commercial artist working during the mid 20th century, producing works as a poster designer, animator, book illustrator and graphic designer.
During the course of his career Beaven worked as an animator and background illustrator during the 1940s, for Halas & Batchelor, producing post war public information cartoons on behalf of the British Central Office of Information. Additionally he worked on the Look & Learn series and designed educational posters for children.
J Beaven is known to be the artist who created the picture (shown left) of an Elizabethan Theatre used in a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle created in the 1930s by G.J. Hayter & Co, Bourmemouth, England. This picture was also used for a Macmillan Educational poster in the 1960s.
