These are the unique original Pencil drawings by Leslie Ashwell Wood.

3 pencil drawings grouped together with the theme of castle defences by Leslie Ashwell Wood. These were drawn by Wood for a major project: a set of 52 magazines published in weekly instalments, plotting the history of the British Peoples.

The full, rather grand name of the publication is 'The Romance of The Nation - A Stirring Pageant of the British Peoples Through All the Ages'.

Leslie Ashwell Wood was best known for his educational and detailed cutaway drawings and paintings of trains, boats, planes and all manner of mechanical inventions, often featured in Modern Wonder and in the centre page spread of the famous British comic 'Eagle' in the 1950s.

The three pages are directly from Ashwell Wood's personal archive and are all of slightly varying sizes.
