This is the Signed unique original Pen & Ink Wash by John S Smith.
Pourquoi Pas? Jean Charcot had a flourishing medical practice in a fashionable part of Paris. Why then, did he choose to give it all up to risk his life, year after year, in search of adventure in a ship which was to become as famous as himself?
After 28 years of outstanding service, the Pourquoi Pas? was dashed to pieces on the rocks in the Bay of Reykjavik.
This is the original artwork for illustration on pages 6-7 of Look and Learn issue no 759 (31 July 1976).
