This is the unique original Watercolour painting by Roger Payne.

The philosopher Plato taught his students and followers in a grove called the Academia, on Athens' outskirts. From this came our word "academy", for a place of learning.

    Roger Payne (born 1934; UK)
    Roger Payne is a British artist and prolific book illustrator.

    He is known for his illustration paintings, which are characterized by their vivid colors and bold brushstrokes. He has illustrated many historical and classical scenes for Look And Learn, and numerous Odysseus, biblical stories, and mythology over the years.

    His homoerotic work is also well known and he has also done many illustrations for books and magazines.
