This is the Signed unique original Pen & Ink drawing by Mercer.

Single panel gag cartoon from 1938 featuring the exploits of two "Ancient Britons". Nessie is coloured light blue and unfortunately there is a stain to the right of his or her head. Likewise some chipping to corner of art board, still unusual to find a piece like this surviving the paper drives of World War II.

Possibly of interest the art board was manufactured for C.A.S. Commercial Artists' Supplies who's address was: "73 Farringdon St. EC4, corner of Stonecutter St., opposite Amalgamated Press". One for the historians.

Likely produced for an adult magazine rather than a comic.
