Rip's wife had an athletic arm and an agile tongue and would chastise him often.
Rip Van Winkle, a short story by American author Washington Irving, first published in 1819, follows a Dutch-American villager in colonial America who is nagged by his wife, meets some mysterious dwarves, imbibes their strong liquor and falls into a deep sleep in the Catskill Mountains. He awakes 20 years later to a very changed world, having missed the American Revolution.
Gwen Green Little is known about the talented artist and illustrator Gwen Green other than she worked with Odhams Press and illustrated Bible stories books for Leonard Matthews.
