This is the unique original Watercolour painting by artist unknown.

This is a very rare original painting by an unknown artist, produced for an unpublished run of cigarette cards featuring R.A.F. badges, most likely by John Player & Sons Cigarettes.

This artwork features the badge of the R.A.F. Bomber Squadron 214.

The motto of No. 214 Squadron RAF is "Ultor in umbris," which translates from Latin to "Avenging in the shadows". This motto, along with a badge featuring a nightjar, was authorized by King George VI in March 1938 and reflects the squadron's historical role in night operations

No. 214 Squadron (Federated Malay States) RAF was a heavy night-bombing squadron formed in 1917 as part of the Royal Naval Air Service and absorbed into the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1918. The squadron operated Handley Page bombers in WWI, then later became known for its electronic warfare operations during World War II, flying Fortresses equipped for jamming. The squadron was eventually disbanded in 1977.
