This is the unique original Watercolour painting by John Worsley.

John Worsley paints with extraordinary panache, vibrancy, and attention to detail. The artist, who also worked as a portrait artist for the Metropolitan Police, uses his extraordinary skill to create life like characters both adults and children can identify and empathise with.

In this case, the hero of the story, Wee Willie Winkie is flanked by a fantastic array of characters, including his ever optimistic and helpful elephant friend with whom he travels the world.

A fabulous page painted for a Wee Willie Winkie story appearing in Treasure magazine No 383.

Reminiscent in part to the very much loved Doctor Zeuss stories, the characters help Willie Winkie to build a fantastic craft out of found objects, in which the protagonist can continue his travels. Worsley, once escaped a P.O.W. camp by creating a dummy of himself out of found objects.

Worsley, who spent time in the P.O.W. camp after being captured in then Yugoslavia, achieves a fantastic liberation from the past by painting in such a fluid joyful manner. Worsley's work can also be found in The Imperial War Museum, The Maritime Museum, The collection of HM The Queen, The Savage club and many other private collections including Royal Families, banks and Colleges.
