1968This is the unique original Watercolour painting by Eric Parker.
Top: the Pulteney fought off three larger ships with almost three times the crew in each, plus more firepower in the Strait of Gibraltar 1743. Three attempts were made to board her but all were repulsed with heavy losses for the Spanish.
The bottom panel depicts the changes in British Navy uniforms in 1748. The colour of blue and white was chosen by King George II who it is said was influenced by seeing the riding costume worn by the Duchess of Bedford (middle panel).
