This is the unique original Pen & Ink Wash by Will Nickless.

The transport of mail through the mountains and deserts of the American West was a business fraught with danger. It gave rise to the heroics of Pony Express riders like Buffalo Bill Cody.

The US Mail imported Camels as they were known for their speed and ruggedness in a hot climate. However the hard stony desert of Colorado was too much for their feet, even when they were shod with leather shoes.
