An original illustration of the "Great Harry", King Henry VIII's flagship.

Most of the old engravings do not represent the warship "Great Harry". This is from a drawing preserved at Cambridge, which is said to be authentic.

Robert Wilson Matthews born in Edinburgh in 1880 began as an illustrator in the early 20th century. An alumni of The Edinburgh College of Art he is best known for his illustrations in H.W. Meikle's 'Story Of England' (Oliver & Boyd) and the illustrated works of Alexandre Dumas (Collins Clear Press). Matthews took a medical commission circa 1928 and was one of the most well respected medical illustrators of the 20th century.
