This is the Signed original Gouache painting by Cecil Doughty.

"Peelers" or the early police, armed only with truncheons, raid a gang plotting violence in secret. From the flyer on the table it would appear that they planned a demonstration in support of workers rights.

One of the men looks as though he expected trouble and the chair being sent flying is a very nice compositional touch from Doughty. Signed CLD.

Original artwork for illustration on p11 of Look and Learn issue no 190 (4 September 1965).
