Pen and ink illustration by Cecil Doughty for page three of the story The Ghost of Galloping Nick.

The caption reads "The stranger smiled. 'One Ear Jack? A pretty villain, landlord, by all accounts." Lovely fine line work, note the youth literally sitting in the fireplace.

This was published in a collection Tales of Long Ago - but not the Arthur Conan Doyle book of that name. Exact details of publication yet to be determined.
