An original painting of a real Lancaster bomber from 150 RAF Bomber Squadron nicknamed "We Dood It Too" in a battle zone over the Ruhr in Germany during World War II.
Over 47,000 airmen were killed in operations over enemy held territory in World War II but the crew of "We Dood It Too" survived a tour of 36 ops.
Coton's dramatic painting depicts the Lancaster avoiding enemy flak and searchlights having dropped it's payload of bombs. A superb painting showing the dangers faced by RAF bomber crews throughout the war. Signed lower right.
This painting was presented to the Bomb Aimer Pilot Office Vernon Wilkes, DFC. (framed).
