Series of pictures showing memorable firsts in Football, from the top: the first match played with numbers on the players shirts (1933 Cup Final, Everton vs. Manchester City); the first live radio broadcast of a football match (Arsenal vs. Sheffield United, 22nd January 1927); West Bromwich Albion forward W.G. Richardson scoring 4 goals against West Ham in 5 minutes (7th November 1931);
Arsenal staggering the football world by paying £10,000 for David Jack & £9,000 for Alex James (1928); Newcastle United, whilst at a seaside training camp preparing for a Cup-tie in 1928, adopted a black cat that brought them luck; Eddie Hapgood of Arsenal heading in a penalty that had been saved by the Liverpool Keeper; a Swedish team who stopped shaving until they won a match - which happened 12 months later.
