This is the unique original Pen & Ink Wash by Robert Brook.

After a distinguished naval career Dorset man Vernet Lovett Cameron explored both the Congo and the Zambezi. The painting shows him reluctantly asking his men to fire on aggressive locals.

He later plotted the route of a Constantinople to Baghdad railway before retiring to a an author's life.
