These are the unique original Pen & Ink drawings by Barrie Mitchell.

It’s the day of the vicar's charity cricket match and Worzel joins in with chaotic results. He accidentally uncovers some long lost silver and makes the headlines in the newspaper.

This illustration featured in issue 35 of Look-in magazine.

Originally created by author Barbara Euphan Todd, living scarecrow Worzel Gummidge had been adapted to radio in the 1930s and television in the 1950s, but he'd largely fallen out of general public's consciousness until a new TV series based on the stories began airing on 25th February 1979, starring John Pertwee. In April 1979 a comic strip based on the character debuted in Look-In.
