Two wonderful paintings on card by Dan Escott pasted onto board in order to illustrate an article concerning The Order of Teutonic Knights.
The Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem which became the Order of Teutonic Knights began as a refuge for the sick and wounded during the Crusades.
The uppermost painting depicts Knights acting as guards to pilgrims who are being attacked by Saracens, whilst the second painting shows the makeshift hospital tent in which the order began.
Painted with Escott's uncanny attention to detail, this pair of paintings will make a fine addition to any collection.
