91 Flopsy. Her love of drawing animals has remained a constant and was part of the impetus to select ‘Flush’ as a self-initiated project. Although drawing was a passion, Katyuli concentrated her attention on her academic studies and entered Clare College Cambridge to study Russian and Modern Greek. Her flair for drawing made her a logical choice for designing posters for the College May Ball and the College Music Society. It was a natural progression for her to refocus her attention on her art and to ensure she really did hone her talents to their full potential. She undertook a Masters Degree at the Cambridge School of Art, which she completed in 2016. Things started moving very quickly for Katyuli and before her graduation show she was contacted by Tomaz Tadeu from the Brazilian publisher Grupo Autêntica to say that he was interested in acquiring the rights to reproduce Katyuli’s illustrations for ‘Flush’ in a Portuguese edition of the novel that they were in the process of publishing. This success was swiftly followed by the shortlisting for both the V&A Illustration Awards as well as the World Illustration Awards . Her most recent work has been a real source of ABOVE: More images from 'Flush'. Katyuli's technique involves scanning in pencil drawings that she creates on 'not' surfaced paper and then creating colour separations in Photoshop . This achieves the effect of a four colour lithograph but in such a manner that she can easily adjust the results should it be required.
