RUDKIN, Mister STORY 90 “THE HANGING JUDGE” STRIP 9535 The warder at Bridestone Prison who conducts Simon Vance to his interview with the Governor. He is in attendance when Vance is told that his twelve year sentence is to be substantially increased by the Home Secretary. He is a witness to Vance’s threat to kill the Home Secretary – “the longer he makes the sentence, the longer he’ll live”. RUSKIN, Dr STORY 3 “THE GABRIEL SET-UP” STRIP 217 Alias used by Gabriel when he visits the Phoenix Sanatorium, the cover for the use of a technique called “Cloud Nine” which can extract commercially valuable and sensitive information from patients without their knowledge. The technique employs a varying combination of subliminal sound, mild electric shocks and hypnosis to induce a state of safety and comfort in which secrets can be revealed. Makes it very clear to those running the sanatorium that speculating about the uses to which the information is put could be dangerous. RYKEL STORY 49 “THE MOON MAN” STRIP 5392 One of the men guarding Julie Varna. It is his job to kill Julie if an emergency arises. He is taking her to the well and her death when he is stopped and killed by Modesty. RYKOV STORY 7: “TOP TRAITOR”: STRIP 818 One of the foreign agents invited to the castle of Graf von Schuyler in the remote village of Storgen to bid in the international auction for Sir Gerald Tarrant and anything that can be got out of him. When Modesty and Willie break into the castle and get clear with Tarrant he is offered a horse by von Schuyler on which to join in the chase for them. He states that he would just as soon ride a tiger as tackle Blaise and Garvin in wooded country at night, a sentiment with which several of his fellow guests are in full agreement. STORY 38: “DEATH TRAP” TEXT ONLY STRIP 4247 A target assigned to Skedi for assassination.
