She has been supplied by Superior Secretaries Limited, a company set up by Gabriel. He specialised in hooking children and became a target for Modesty when she was running The Network. She framed him for a crime he did not commiit and he was sentenced to five years in the Peruvian mines. Now dying, he is taking his revenge by having her and Willie hunted to the death by three professional killers and has taken over an uninhabited and remote Scottish island for the purpose. When he believes them to have been killed he dies of a heart attack, presumably but mistakenly happy.
