This is the Signed unique original Gouache painting by John S Smith.

A lovely original painting by John S Smith depicting two aircraft employed by the then new company AirUK for short flights over the channel. On the ground is a Handley Page Herald, in the air a Dutch Fokker Friendship F27.

The inset diagram shows that both these aircraft have a high wing configuration which makes loading cargo easier at smaller airports.

Originally published as a double page spread, pages 8 & 9 in Look and Learn 27 June 1981.
