This is the Signed unique original Gouache painting by Henry Seabright.

Prince Arthur slaying the giant in battle.

Henry Seabright was a magazine and children's book illustrator who contributed to The Strand and the Reader's Digest Condensed Books series. Seabright also contributed to Bible Story and the comic Playhour where he drew a comic strip adaptation of E. Nesbit's novel Five Children and It.

This painting is on paper which has been fixed to a more solid board, There are signs of glue staining to the top and lower edges.
It seems that a text box must have been fixed to the painting and when this was removed, it has also removed part of the painted signature, however, our experts have determined that the remaining white paint in the lower right corner are indeed traces of the artists signature, which is legible upon close inspection.

The painting was used in this instance as an illustration of Edmund Spencer's poem "The Faerie Queen".

This wonderful painting of Prince Arthur slaying the giant was published in Look and Learn magazine #101 on 21st December 1963, however it most probably dates to an earlier period, and was re-used for this publication.
