John Nyberg began his career in 1985 working for First Comics. After a few years of working for Comico, Eclipse Comics and a few others, his first published work for DC Comics was published in 1988 in Action Comics. Later he worked on titles like Plastic Man, Tailgunner Jo and Christmas with the Super-Heroes. He is best known for his work on the titles Doom Patrol, Green Arrow and Flash.

In later years, he was hired by Dark Horse Comics and later on by Marvel Comics. Nyberg has also inked plenty for Mike Mignola.
