This is the unique original Pen & Ink Wash by William Francis Marshall.

An original painting used in a series of Famous Loves depicting King Carol of Romania. Carol and Magda Lupescu were married in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 3 June 1947, Magda taking the title of Princess Elena von Hohenzollern. Carol remained in exile for the rest of his life.

  William Francis Marshall (1901 - 1980)
  Francis Marshall studied at Slade before entering the world of advertising illustration. In 1928 he began a 10-year relationship with Condé Nast, drawing for Vogue. In 1959 he wrote a successful book on drawing entitled Magazine Illustration.
