This is the Signed unique original Watercolour painting by Frank Marsden Lea.

Queen Mary visits a soldier wounded in service during World War One. The soldier had been present at the Durbar in 1911. The Durbar, held in Delhi celebrated the Coronation of King George V and he was crowned King Emperor of India during the ceremony in December 1911 and Queen Mary was his consort.

26,800 men serving in the British and Indian Armies were present at the event. The Durbar also celebrated the change from Calcutta to Delhi as the Indian Capital.

Published in an as yet unidentified issue of Look and Learn probably 1966 when Frank Lea was a regularly featured artist in the magazine.

    Frank Marsden Lea (born 1910; UK)
    Frank Marsden Lea, born 1910. A talented artist and illustrator who, inter alia, designed posters for London County Council Tramways 1928-1932 and painted many illustrations for Look and Learn during the 1960s.

    He trained at the Nottingham Art School; 1916-1917 and also attended Manchester School of Art.
