King Henry VIII having been thrown to the ground by King Francis I. The servant remarks: "Your Majesties, dinner is served.".
Francis I of France met Henry VIII of England on the so-called Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520. No sooner had they met than Henry challenged the French King to a wrestling match which Francis promptly won.
The servant announcing dinner probably saved the two countries from an ugly diplomatic incident.
Original art published in Look and Learn issue 170, 17 April 1965.
