This is the unique original Gouache painting by John Keay.

A black man rescues a little girl from drowning in the Mississippi River, with a paddle steamer in the background. A riverboat gambler looks on. Possibly an incident in Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Wonderful facial expressions.

This is the original artwork by John Keay published in Look and Learn Magazine 14/06/80.
