Emilio Fréjo Abregón (8 May 1931 - 9 February 2013; Spain)
Emilio Fréjo Abregon was a cartoonist, painter, illustrator and a comic book artist who worked for the publising house Valenciana from 1947. He contributed 'Osito', a series featuring an anthropomorphic bear and his two sweet-toothed nephews, to children's magazine Pumby. He also published in Jaimito (another Valenciana magazine) from 1947 to late in the 1950s. He was one of the artists who drew the title comic 'Jaimito'. He was also present in Mariló with 'Mariló', 'Carmencita' and 'Papá'.

As an agency artist, he worked for foreign publishers through Bardon Art, an agency with offices in London and Barcelona.

He founded the collective Art Studium with Sanchís Cortés and González Alacreu. Art Studium was active between 1968 and 1980, and among others responsible for the comic biography of Franco ('Soldado Invicto', 1969) and did much work for titles such as Look and Learn.

Among his other credits are 'The Avengers', 'Kit Carson' and 'Kansas Kid' for the UK market and 'Hansel y Gretel' and 'The Three Musketeers' for the Spanish market.

Emilio Frejo drew parts three through nine of The Exterminator, a Judge Dredd story by John Wagner. The first two parts were drawn by John M. Burns. The story, published in 2000 AD progs 919 to 927, features Judge Dredd travelling back in time to 2001 (still in the future for the readers) to kill people carrying an alien virus before it can affect the Mega-City One of his day. This creates an ontological paradox when he succeeds, but the artwork is lovely. Pictured is the last carrier of the virus being disinfected, Dredd-style. A pair of New York cops in the background are left somewhat aghast at the law enforcement tactics of the future.

Frejo had previously drawn The Avengers for DC Thomson's girls title Diana in the 1960s. According comics archivist and artist David Roach, Frejo was helped out on the strip by his fellow Bermejo studio member Juan Gonzalez Alacrejo on about half the episodes.

He worked for the Japanese publisher Sogakukan in the early 1980s, then left comics to devote himself to painting.

Emilio Fréjo is the brother of comic artist Nin.
