John Cooper illustrated a huge amount of work during his career including stories for DC Thompson, IPC, Disney, SHOOT! And 2000AD. Highlights include his work for Lady Penelope, Captain Scarlet, Grange Hill and of course Johnny Red.
Cooper was also the first commissioned artist for a Judge Dredd story for 2000AD which was not immediately published due to it's extreme violence.
John Cooper (born 1942; UK) John Cooper is an artist of UK action and war comics and worked for nearly all the British comics publications since the 1970s.
His credits vary from Look-in ('Doctor at Sea'), Disney to SHOOT! and 2000 AD. He is best known for the 'Johnny Red' from Battle magazine.
He was the artist of the first commissioned 'Judge Dredd' story, which was published much later due to its extreme violence. John Cooper is also active as an illustrator.
