This is the unique original Watercolour painting by Pilar Blasco.

A fabulous rare example of Pilar Blasco's work.

Pilar, known as Pili, is the third of the Blasco siblings (among which Jesús Blasco is the most famous). She began her career in comics in the 1940s, drawing for a variety of Spanish nursery comics. Pili did however, often help her brothers with their commissions, and never received the recognition she deserved for this.

This is a fine page which was painted for an earlier publication. The artwork was then peeled from the original boards and pasted onto this board to be published in Toddlers Own Annual in the early 1970s.

Pili's soft and elegant style is in part reminiscent of Japanese wood block prints and the embellished patterns she carefully includes in fabrics, woodwork and stone masonry are a joy to behold.

This is a rare chance to see Pili's work.
