This is the Signed unique original Watercolour painting by Michael Roffe.

This watercolour shows Billy Bishop piloting his Nieuport Type 17 in the skies above the Western Front along with a German Albatross biplane.

Billy Bishop was a Canadian flyer in the Royal Flying Corps and was officially the third ranking Allied Air Ace behind Frenchman Rene Fonck and Irishman Mick Mannock. A lovely precise painting.

This is the original painting used on the cover of the book Famous Flyers: Billy Bishop, 1990.

  Michael Roffe is a talented painter of military subjects who has illustrated many titles for Osprey over the years, including the Men-at-Arms and Vanguard series. His artistic talents span a variety of historical periods; he has illustrated titles relating to the Boer War, the English Civil War, the Napoleonic Wars and the American War for Independence.
