This is the unique original Pen & Ink drawing by Robert Wilson Matthews.

These illustrations from 'A Child's History Of England' depict the history of the ancient world. The first panel depicts oxen treading out corn in ancient Egypt. The second panel shows representations of frescos from Knossos, fishermen, a lady and the game of bull-leaping.

Robert Wilson Matthews born in Edinburgh in 1880 began as an illustrator in the early 20th century. An alumni of The Edinburgh College of Art he is best known for his illustrations in H.W. Meikle's 'Story Of England' (Oliver & Boyd) and the illustrated works of Alexandre Dumas (Collins Clear Press). Matthews took a medical commission circa 1928 and was one of the most well respected medical illustrators of the 20th century.

  Robert Wilson Matthews born in Edinburgh in 1880 (some sources say 1895) and began as an illustrator in the early 20th century. An alumni of The Edinburgh College of Art he is best known for his illustrations in H.W.
