This is the Signed unique original Gouache painting by L Field Marchant.

Scenes from the life of Opossums, the prehensile tail means that they can sleep hanging from a tree branch. The adult is lying still pretending to be dead which is what they famously do when threatened. The two panels lower right show a Water Opossum and a Mouse Opossum.

Although at home in forests and swamps the marsupial also lives amongst humans, the young are known as joeys as with kangaroos.

This artwork was published in an issue of Treasure dated February 18th, year unknown but around 1970. Please note damaged to art board top right. This is reflected in the asking price.
