This is the unique original Pencil drawing by 20th Century unidentified artist.

An original pencil sketch of a ruined church and corner of a grave yard at Hebuterne. Possibly drawn by a serving soldier, this is the site of one of the British Cemetaires in the region of the Somme. The area was subject to heavy fire in the second Battle of Artois during which it was a French base. It was later taken over by the British and was further shelled in the Somme Offensive.

Some signs of age on the original paper which is glued to thick card. It was evidently framed at some stage, a family heirloom presumably. The military cemetery in the town was first opened in August 1915 which may have significance for the date in the picture. Professionally matted ready for framing.
