15 many war comics that were a mainstay of the UK comics industry. The fully-painted covers they created for many titles, including westerns as well as war, added a new dimension to the way that UK comics were packaged. Although it was said that competitionwas the downfall of these art agencies and the artists they represented, the truth of the matter was that the public’s taste had changed. The Second World War was slipping from the collective consciousness, fashions had changed and new pre-occupations made war comics (with the notable exception of DC Thomson ’s Commando series) became a thing of the past.
