35 Few illustrators can talk about their involvement with the Oscars, but Tomer Hanuka is one who can. However, it would be over simplistic to reduce one of the most brilliant representatives of contemporary illustration to a simple Hollywood anecdote. Since his graduation from the New York School of Visual Arts, the Israeli comics illustrator has had an impressive career, collecting some of the most prestigious awards of the profession, such as those from the Society of Illustrators and the Society of Publication Designers . But, again, these prizes, for all their undeniable prestige, are not eloquent enough to describe the dynamic style of Tomer Hanuka, with its bold and vivid colours, multi- layered narratives and arresting compositions. Achieving the status of a multi award-winning artist has allowed him to exercise his talent in many directions and fulfil many ambitions. He who dreamt of illustrating the covers of the New Yorker and the Times has now fully realised his youthful ambition and is boldly pushing his art into new territory.
