All of which has added to the joy that we experienced when working on bringing you the story of his extraordinary rise to pre-eminence in the realms of fantasy art. Tomer Hanuka is another artist who has risen to the top of what is a highly competitive and fickle profession. His graceful line, dynamic use of solid black and inspired use of colour, offset by his darkly deviant iconography, has garnered a worldwide fan base and commissions from Jack White to DC Vertigo comics. Jennifer Gori reveals more about Tomer's life work and inspirations. David Ashford relates the story of James McConnell, one of the "Pulpiest" artists the UK has ever spawned. David' s text brings to life a man whose devotion to his art remained a constant throughout his long anf successful career. Mike Terry's wit, warmth and brilliant caricatures have led to a string of prestigious commissions spanning the world of advertising and, more recently, children's picture books. Mike shares with us some of those memories and brings us up to date with what is currently on his drawing board. Freya Hartas is the latest young illustrator to be spotlighted in our 'Out There' column. She is already making waves in the field of publishing. Finally we are sharing one of Jonathan Burton's amazing posters with his unique take on a classic Vincent Price film, 'The House on Haunted Hill'. Thanks to Mark Terry of facsimiledustjackets.com for his restoration of several James McConnell covers and Norman Boyd for all his work on our behalf.
