79 The Gallery: Frank C. Papé WEIRDSVILLE: An illustration from 'Naughty Eric', illustrated by Frank C. Papé. Published in 1902 the book is so rare that only two surviving copies have been verified, one held by The British Library and one held by a relative of the author. Papé, whose work was discontertingly "other", had a flourishing career for much of the first half of the twentieth century. This is a scan from the only known original artwork for 'Naughty Eric' which came to light in an auction in Sussex in 2014.
