RAKUSI STORY 49: “THE MOON MAN”: STRIP 5366 Enforcer for the Eastern Bloc country trying to steal the files Modesty is checking for Sir Gerald Tarrant listing his Balkan agents. In order to force Alex Varna, a sleeper agent, to use his close friendship with Modesty, plus the fact that he is also painting her portrait, to get the files, he kidnaps Alex’s daughter Julie. When things start to go wrong he orders Julie’s death. Unfortunately for him the order is overheard by Willie who becomes rather vengeful. RALSTON STORY 4: “MISTER SUN”: STRIP 387 Signed the cable from Hong Kong University to Modesty in London advising her that Weng disappeared three days ago and that the police have been unable to trace him. Although not specifically stated it has been assumed that he is the man Modesty meets when she goes to the university. He is helpful but baffled as he reports Weng to have been a model student. RAMON (2) STORY 80: “THE KILLING DISTANCE”: STRIP 8535 One of the team of two South American terrorists hired by Linique on behalf of Charles B. Delaney to assassinate Modesty and Willie in France. None of the locals would take on this particular task. This lack of local knowledge leads him and his partner to underestimate the difficulty of the job they have taken on. For him the ultimate insult is that his partner has to be saved from drowning by Modesty who then hands them both over to René Vaubois for deportation. RAMON (3) STORY 83: “THE MAORI CONTRACT”: STRIP 8804 Hired by Martin Hayne to kidnap Carol Nash under the supervision of the former Columbian fixer Diaz.
