This is the Signed unique original Gouache painting by Roger Payne.

In 480BC King Xerxes of Persia prepared to invade Greece, as documented by Herototus.

While Athens and Sparta set aside their differences to defend Greece, Thebes made a pact with the Persians as they considered the war as good as lost. The Persian's lost the war and Thebes never recovered it's reputation.

Note there is a light vertical crease where the art was folded when mailed to the publisher.
