Top: fire ships used by the Americans to attack HMS Rose and HMS Phoenix.
Top Right: a prototype one man submarine which travels just beneath the water was used to attack HMS Eagle. However the ship was copper sheathed so explosives could not be attached - they drifted off to harmlessly explode ashore.
Bottom Right: During the siege of New York there was an encounter between the two sides on Lake Champlain. Inset shows the uniform worn by sailors at this time when they were on shore leave.
