This is the unique original Gouache painting by Angus McBride.

The river Severn flows for 215 miles and drains an area of 4,360 square miles. Images include the Shropshire Union Canal, the town of Llanidloes where the Chartists planned their uprising, the engineer of Barry Docks, David Davies, and the hamlet of Abermule which was once home to a Norman castle before it was razed by Edward I in his fight against the Welsh.

First episode in the series about the people and history to be found along the course of the River Severn which was a back cover feature of Look and Learn magazine during the second half of 1967. This initial episode was published in issue 282, 10th June 1967.
