This is a Signed Limited edition print.

One of a series of 12 artist proof signed prints about World War I produced for the Sphere & Tatler in 1916, 'With the British Army on the Western Front'. In a farmyard just beyond the range of the shells a concert is being held under the shelter of an outbuilding.

French and British officers have gathered to attend this impromptu performance, at which much native wit and talent is often revealed. The farmer's wife placidly consents to assist in a humorous turn. A Tommy, vigorously performing on a mouth organ, constitutes the orchestra.

This art features as Fig. 85 in the book The Art of Fortunino Matania: catalogue of original art & prints.
