Florence Nightingale is considered the founder of the nursing profession. This pioneering nurse nursed the wounded in the Crimean War.
She found that diseases like typhoid, cholera and dysentery killed ten times more men than battle wounds. She also organized hospitals, trained other nurses, and fought to eliminate unsanitary conditions.
A lovely study by Jackson with the soldier saluting his saviour.
Originally printed in Treasure magazine, issue yet to be confirmed. Please note there is a tear in the art with amateur restoration just to the right of the apron. This is reflected in the asking price.
