The Sinking of The Lusitania (Original)

The Sinking of The Lusitania (Original) by British History (Howat) at The Illustration Art Gallery

Ref: HowatLusitaniaLL (Click for LARGE picture)

Artist: Andrew Howat (biography)
Medium: Gouache on Board
Size: 10" x 13" (265mm x 330mm)
Date: 1971

This is the unique original Gouache painting by Andrew Howat.

Andrew Howat paints a vivid description of the sinking of the Lusitania in his paint-repel technique, which creates lovely pooling here, especially in the magenta and yellows.

The inset image similar to a Polaroid shows an echo sounding taken to show the Lusitania's position on the Ocean floor.

This painting was published in Look and Learn magazine No. 484, 24 April 1971.
