Top Left: Empire Day, a boat co-designed by T.E. Lawrence aka Lawrence of Arabia. It was not built until 1938, 3 years after his death. Made of aluminium it could reach 150 m.p.h.
Bottom left: the supersonic jet fighter was a co-production between the French and British air forces.
Centre is ARIA the craft that plotted the course taken by Apollo 8 during its 1968 mission.
Right is Chuck Yeager piloting the famous Bell X.1. He blacked out due to buffeting when the engines briefly cut out while travelling at twice the speed of sound.
